Top 10 Best Indica Strains of Alltime

Are you a fan of Indica strains? If so, then check out this list of the ten best Indica strains out there that Reefer Post has put together. Know some Indica strains that didn’t make the list but should have? Leave a comment below about that strain so that it gets included!

For those of you who don’t know, Indica refers to the type of marijuana plant. There are three different types of marijuana plants that all have their strains: Indica, Sativa, and hybrid. Not only does each type of plant look different from one another, but also has unique effects that one type might have, while the other has an opposite effect. For example, Indica strains are known to give off calming and relaxing effects, while Sativa strains can give off energizing and uplifting effects.

Hybrids can contain effects from both Indica and Sativa strains, depending on which two strains were used to make that hybrid strain. Some hybrid strains are Indica-dominant, some are Sativa-dominant, and others are 50-50.

Reviews of The Best Indica Strains

Enough about those facts, let’s jump into these ten amazing Indica strains that surely give off strong Indica effects:

Granddaddy Purple

Granddaddy Purple

How could we leave this strain off of the list? If you have ever smoked some Grandaddy Purple (a.k.a. Grandaddy Purp), then you know that it is very potent since its effects are very strong. It is one of the most potent marijuana strains out there! It gets its name from small, purple hair-like strands that stick out of the nugs.

The Indica effects are very strong, meaning that calm and relaxed feel will kick in. If you are reading this for a strain that will give off great Indica effects and possibly put you to sleep, then you don’t even need to read the rest, just try some of this strain. On the medical side, Grandaddy Purp can help treat insomnia (obviously), muscle spasms, and even pain or stress.

Grape Ape

Grape Ape

Another strain that is heavy in Indica effects is Grape Ape. These effects are known to provide relaxation, which can help soothe pain, stress, anxiety, and insomnia. One thing to know about the nugs is that they are very compact and dense. They also include the same purple hair-like strands just as Grandaddy Purp does. Wondering where Grape Ape got its name? Well, if you ever smoke some, then you’ll get a grape-like smell from it, hence the name Grape Ape.

Purple Kush

Purple Kush

Regarded as one of the purest Indica strains, Purple Kush is another good one. It was first created (or bred using parent strains) in Oakland, California. Flavors of Purple Kush include earthy, berry, and a slight taste of grape. But even though this strain is known as a pure Indica strain, it is known to give off Sativa effects (odd right?). These effects include the relaxing and euphoric Indica feelings, but also happy and energetic Sativa feelings. Medically, this strain does great with treating stress and insomnia.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights

Northern Lights was created in Seattle, Washington. It is another pure Indica strain and gives off the right effects. Many medical marijuana patients turn to this strain when they need treatment for several conditions, including (but not limited to): sleeplessness, pain, stress, depression, and even lack of appetite. If it can treat a lack of appetite, then that means to look out for the munchies when you smoke some Northern Lights. Want to use it for recreational use? Well, the effects include relaxation, happiness, and even a bit sleep.

Afghan Kush

This strain is no joke. Afghan Kush is a very potent and strong Indica strain that can put you to sleep if you consume too much of it. With that being said, it is not ideal to use during the day, only at night. If you are someone who suffers from insomnia, then this strain would be perfect for you.

Just smoke some right before bed and let those Indica effects kick your butt. However, there are some downsides to this powerful strain. Those include the fact that it almost guarantees bloodshot eyes and a dry mouth. But that’s okay, just bring a bottle of water and some eye drops when you smoke some Afghan Kush!

Tahoe OG

Tahoe OG was listed in our post about “The Best Marijuana Strains Out There” because of its reputation and effects. It is known to be fast-acting, meaning those effects will kick in quickly. Its effects are very similar to the effects given by the Northern Lights but with a twist. Tahoe OG also gives an extremely lazy, heavy body high. For flavors, expect a woody, earthy taste with a hint of lemon in there.

Bubba Kush

All stoners should know about Bubba Kush. It derives from New Orleans and was created by breeding OG Kush with (possibly) Northern Lights. The effects given by this strain are heavy. It is very popular in the U.S., but especially on the West Coast. Typical Indica effects come from this strain, including relaxation, happiness, euphoria, and sleep. But, even though it has typical effects, that does not make it a typical strain.

These effects hit hard, and quickly. And, that’s how Bubba Kush made this list. The flavors of this strain are bizarre. When I first found out about them, I was astonished. Here are some of the flavors you might taste when smoking Bubba Kush: sweet, earthy, chocolate, coffee, and pine.

God’s Gift

In 2005, a new strain was gaining quick popularity in California. Its parents are Grandaddy Purp and OG Kush, making it a fan-favorite already. That strain was named God’s Gift. It gets its name from being known as a “gift” to the marijuana community. Effects include relaxed, sleepy, happy, euphoric, and slightly uplifted. In addition, this strain is known to be a great stress reliever.

Platinum OG

Platinum OG is strong, just like the metal, it’s named after. By strong, I mean that this strain gives off strong effects. Effects are also heavy and can hit hard. Platinum OG has three parents, OG Kush, Master Kush, and the third is unknown. Additionally, this strain has been named a “robust healer”, since it can greatly help treat pain, stress, and anxiety.

Purple Urkle

This strain has a strange name in my opinion. But this isn’t about my opinion, it’s about the best Indica strains! So, let’s get into some facts about Purple Urkle. The scent of this strain is strong when smoked. These scents include fresh grapes, berries, and skunks. Effects include sleep and relaxation, you know, the typical Indica effects.

If you want to use this strain for medical purposes, then it is good to know that Purple Urkle does well with relieving pain and treating insomnia.
