Cannabis-Infused Bacon and Cheddar Potatoes Recipe

Waking up in the morning and using cannabis is a recipe for a great start to a day. Many people wake up and consume cannabis due to medical reasons, others do it just because they like to be high right at the beginning of the day. Whatever it is, starting the day off with some weed is like a tradition. There’s even a legit name for it: wake and bake! Don’t believe me? Look it up!

If you like to wake and bake, one good method is to incorporate it into your breakfast, that way you can get full and high at the same time! No need to go eat then get high, or vice versa. Do it altogether to save time and really get that day started. With that being said, I introduce to you these cannabis-infused bacon and cheddar potatoes.

The great thing about these potatoes is that you can prepare them the night before, then enjoy them the next morning. Or, for all you non-breakfast eaters, enjoy them at brunch, lunch, or even dinner if you want! Another popular use of these potatoes is to eat them as a late night snack, and get high right before bed. Check out the recipe below.

You will need cannabutter, click here for its recipe.

Ingredients

For this recipe, you will need:

  • 1 pound of bacon (diced)
  • 2 onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 pound of cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 5 medium Idaho potatoes (thinly sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
  • 4 tablespoons of cannabutter
  • Scallions (optional)
  • Sour cream (optional)

These ingredient amounts are for 4 servings. You will also need a crockpot to slow cook this recipe.

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the bacon

First, heat a large skillet or stove-top griddle on medium heat. Use 1 tbsp of cannabutter to grease the pan. Once greased, add in the pound of bacon. Cook it evenly on both sides until it is all crispy. Whatever you do, don’t let the bacon burn! Unless you like burnt bacon, crispy bacon is a much better option for this recipe.

Step 2: Prepare the bacon and potatoes

Once your bacon has crisped, remove it from the heat. Place each bacon strip on a plate layered with paper towels. The paper towels will soak up the grease while the bacon cools. Next, thinly slice up the onions and potatoes. Dice the bacon once it has cooled.

Step 3: Add it all to the crock pot

Grab your crock pot and line it with some aluminum foil (enough to cover the top of the potatoes). Then you will need to add each and every ingredient to the crock pot in a certain order: potatoes, onions, bacon, cannabutter, then grated cheese. Make sure to add all of the ingredients to the crockpot. Once those have all been put in, season the potatoes with salt, pepper, and chili powder. Next, seal the top off with aluminum foil and the lid on the crock pot on top of that.

Step 4: Slow cook the potatoes

Once you have sealed up the crock pot, turn it on low and allow it to cook for 10-12 hours. After this, remove the lid from the crock pot. Then, open up the aluminum foil to allow the trapped steam and heat to be released. Be careful, though, as you can easily burn yourself doing this. Once the potatoes cool, they are ready to be served!

Your cannabis-infused bacon and cheddar potatoes are now complete! If desired, add some scallions and/or sour cream to them for added flavor. Serve your pot potatoes in bowls. And don’t forget, you will get high after eating some. Enjoy!
